Breece Hall rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown as the New York Jets defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-10 on September 13, 2026, in Nashville, spoiling new Titans coach Robert Saleh's debut against his former team.
Geno Smith, who returned to the Jets after being acquired from Las Vegas in March, went 19 of 24 for 215 yards while running new coordinator Frank Reich's offense; the Jets never trailed and led 10-3 at halftime on a touchdown from rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
New York dominated time of possession, holding the ball for nearly 39 minutes, including a 19-play drive lasting almost 12 minutes, and outgained Tennessee 367-195 in total offense.
The Jets' defense, run by coach Aaron Glenn this season, recorded three sacks and pressured quarterback Cam Ward throughout; No. 2 overall pick David Bailey, Demario Davis and Kingsley Enagbare all contributed, while Ward finished 19 of 32 for 140 yards with a late touchdown to Elic Ayomanor.
Kicker Jason Sanders, elevated from the practice squad after Glenn deactivated Blake Grupe, hit field goals of 33, 51 and 52 yards despite missing a 54-yard attempt.
The matchup pitted two teams that both went 3-14 last season; the win gave the Jets their first season-opening victory since 2023, as they carry the longest active playoff drought among the major North American men's sports leagues.
