Robert Pattinson Kisses Suki Waterhouse as ‘Primetime’ Rocks Venice With 7-Minute Standing Ovation - Variety

Robert Pattinson's film "Primetime" premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, September 5, drawing an enthusiastic seven-minute standing ovation for his performance as "To Catch a Predator" host Chris Hansen.
Pattinson's partner Suki Waterhouse cheered from the row behind him and leaned forward to kiss him as the crowd applauded, while the audience chanted for director Lance Oppenheim and singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, who makes her acting debut in the film.
Backed by A24, the movie competes in Venice for the Golden Lion and marks Oppenheim's feature debut following documentaries such as "Some Kind of Heaven" and HBO's "Ren Faire." It is based on Luke Dittrich's 2007 Esquire article "Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die."
Large crowds gathered outside the Palazzo del Cinema chanting "Robert!" in intense heat, with Pattinson, Bridgers and co-star Skyler Gisondo signing autographs and taking selfies. Merritt Wever, who plays a producer, and Waterhouse spoke with producers nearby.
Former NBC chief Jeff Zucker, who appears as himself, walked the red carpet alongside producer Ari Aster, while Pattinson wore an all-white suit for the cast photo.
The real Chris Hansen has publicly criticized the film, saying he was not involved in its creation, had not seen it, and called Pattinson's portrayal "overly dramatic," stressing that the movie is not a literal account of his career.
