“Glee” alum Kevin McHale, 38, who played Artie Abrams on the Fox series, publicly criticized fans who claim the show is “cursed” following the deaths of three of its cast members.
In a post on X shared Wednesday, McHale called such talk “diabolical and untethered from any sort of humanity or reality,” objecting to people framing real deaths as a “sacrifice” or “curse” tied to a TV show, and added “Get f–ked.”
Fans supported him in the comments, with one noting that real tragedies aren’t plot devices and that turning a death into “proof” of a curse erases that these were real people with families, friends, and lives beyond the show.
The three cast members who have died are Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, and Naya Rivera, all of whom appeared on the Fox musical series.
Monteith died in July 2013 at age 31, found dead in a Vancouver hotel room; a coroner ruled his death accidental, caused by intravenous heroin combined with alcohol.
Salling died in January 2018 at age 35, a month after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography, with his death ruled a suicide.
