‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ Sequel Set Up at Paramount; Kate Hudson to Produce (EXCLUSIVE) - Variety

Paramount is developing a sequel to the 2003 romantic comedy "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," with original star Kate Hudson attached to produce, Variety reported exclusively.
The project is in early stages, still without a screenwriter or full cast; filmmakers hope to have Hudson and co-star Matthew McConaughey reprise their roles, though casting will hinge on the eventual script.
Stacey Sher will produce alongside Hudson through her Shiny Penny banner, bringing credits that include "Pulp Fiction," "Gattaca," "Erin Brockovich," "Vanilla Sky" and "Django Unchained."
The original, directed by Donald Petrie, followed columnist Andie Anderson (Hudson) and ad executive Benjamin Barry (McConaughey) in a scheme-driven romance, grossing nearly $180 million worldwide on a reported $50 million budget.
The sequel fits a broader Y2K nostalgia trend in Hollywood, with 2026 releases like "The Devil Wears Prada 2," "Scary Movie" and "Toy Story 5" performing strongly, and "Practical Magic 2," "Focker-In-Law," "Shrek 5" and Greta Gerwig's "Narnia" also on the way.
Hudson most recently appeared in 2025's "Song Sung Blue," earning her second Oscar nomination following her first for playing Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe's "Almost Famous."
