‘The Odyssey’ Posts Powerful $20M Tuesday; 2nd U.S. Weekend Could Top Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’ Pics – Box Office - Deadline

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey posted a powerful $21.4M Tuesday at the domestic box office, beating his previous best Tuesday of $20.8M set by The Dark Knight on July 22, 2008.
The figure ranks as the second-best Tuesday of the year behind Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 5 ($23.69M) and the second-best Tuesday ever for Universal, trailing only Jurassic World ($24.3M in June 2015).
The film, which stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal and Mia Goth, will retain all Imax and premium large-format screens for its second weekend, projected to ease 40%-50% into the $61.8M-$74M range.
That hold could challenge the sophomore frames of Nolan's Dark Knight films—The Dark Knight's $75.1M in 2008 or The Dark Knight Rises' $62.1M in 2012—though analysts note superhero movies are typically more front-loaded than a by-appointment title like The Odyssey.
No major studio scheduled a wide release this weekend, positioning between The Odyssey and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is expected to exceed The Odyssey's 2026-record $123.5M live-action opening and possibly Toy Story 5's $159.6M three-day high.
IFC's TIFF acquisition Motor City, a dialogue-less noir from Potsy Ponciroli starring Alan Ritchson, Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster and Ben McKenzie, opens in 1,600 theaters with a low-single-digit forecast and a 72% Rotten Tomatoes score across 29 reviews.
