US soldiers killed by Iran were from Texas and Hawaii, military says - AP News

Two U.S. Army soldiers were killed in Jordan while defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks on Friday, marking the first U.S. troop deaths from direct Iranian fire since the opening days of the war, the Defense Department said.
The soldiers were identified as First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Private Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas; Gonzales died Friday and Feehan died the following day.
Feehan, assigned out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, to the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, will be posthumously promoted to captain and awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Action Badge, and will receive an MBA posthumously from Southern Utah University.
Gonzales, a private with the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany, graduated last year from Hebron High School near Dallas, with the Lewisville Independent School District calling her decision to serve a reflection of her character.
The attack also left one service member missing and four requiring hospitalization; U.S. Central Command said Sunday that "unidentified remains" had been found and were being examined.
The casualties underscore the wider risks of a conflict involving drones, missiles and aircraft, as American forces spread across the Middle East can be targeted without being on the ground in Iran, with the military reporting 17 service members killed in the war overall.
