Perez Hilton's TikTok Livestream Was Kept Up Due To "Moderator Error," Spokesperson Says - Deadline

Perez Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., appeared on a TikTok livestream naked and covered in a red fluid resembling blood while wielding a knife and apparently cutting himself, horrifying viewers who contacted police.
The stream persisted for roughly 15 to 20 minutes despite violating the platform's community guidelines, with a U.S. TikTok spokesperson attributing the delay to a "moderator error" after automated systems had flagged it for removal within minutes.
According to TikTok, law enforcement was alerted and several streams were closed within 90 seconds, resulting in an account ban for the guideline violation.
During the broadcast, Hilton co-hosted with several other streamers who pleaded with him to stop harming himself and end the stream.
Hilton was reportedly taken to a hospital for observation, and a post on his blog said he was "receiving medical care," thanking supporters for their "overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers" while asking that his family's privacy be respected.
The incident comes amid broader scrutiny of TikTok's content practices, including an Ofcom investigation into children being at risk of exposure to harmful content.
