Kevin Feige on Spider-Man Brand New Day Success, Tom Holland Sequel - Variety

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" set a new record with a $360 million domestic opening, surpassing 2019's "Avengers: Endgame" ($357 million) to become the biggest opening weekend of all time.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige now holds credit for the four largest opening weekends in history, with "No Way Home" ($260 million) and "Infinity War" ($257 million) rounding out the top four.
The film, the 38th MCU installment and Tom Holland's fourth solo turn as Spider-Man, reached $932 million globally in just three days and crossed $1 billion in six days—the second-fastest movie to hit that milestone.
The story follows Peter Parker after his choice in "No Way Home" to erase his identity, leaving him fighting crime without allies Zendaya and Jacob Batalon while a mysterious threat, tied to Sadie Sink's character, menaces New York City.
Feige described the achievement as "overwhelming" during a Monday morning interview, noting he never previously believed a film could open above $300 million outside of "Endgame," which capped 22 interconnected movies.
Feige also addressed Sink's MCU debut and what "Brand New Day's" success signals for the upcoming December crossover event, "Avengers: Doomsday," while hinting Holland may take a "restful victory lap" before a potential "Spider-Man 5."
