Jeremiah Wells pulled off one of 2026's biggest comebacks at UFC 330, submitting welterweight prospect Myktybek Orolbai with a ninja choke despite likely trailing on the scorecards.
Orolbai controlled much of the bout with his powerful wrestling, repeatedly taking Wells down and landing ground-and-pound, while Wells stayed dangerous with hard striking on the feet.
The turning point came in Round 3 when Wells landed a stiff right hook, prompting Orolbai to shoot in head-first for a takedown, allowing Wells to lock in the choke and pull him toward the mat.
Orolbai went limp and referee Blake Grice stopped the fight at the 1:24 mark of the third round, handing the 39-year-old Wells an improbable finish before his hometown Philadelphia crowd.
Wells (14-4-1) hinted at retirement afterward but said a top-15 matchup could keep him competing, while Orolbai (16-3-1) suffered his first loss since moving up to the 170-pound division.
The bout was part of UFC 330, headlined by Islam Makhachev versus Ian Machado Garry, with Mackenzie Dern defeating Gillian Robertson in the co-main event title fight.
