Right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos detained by ICE - BBC

British right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos, 41, has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is awaiting deportation, apparently held in Louisiana according to ICE's inmate registry.
The Department of Homeland Security said an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on 22 July after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for his immigration hearing, and he was arrested on 27 August upon arriving at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
DHS stated he entered the US in May 2019 and chose to "overstay his welcome," describing him as "an illegal alien from the United Kingdom" and urging migrants in the country illegally to "self-deport now."
A former Breitbart News editor who grew up in Kent, Yiannopoulos was an early Trump supporter, headlining a "Gays for Trump" event at the 2016 Republican National Convention, but later became a critic, writing on X that Trump had "lost his way, bought off by foreign interests."
Known for provocative and widely condemned commentary on transgender people, Muslims, feminists and others, he previously worked with Kanye West's presidential bid in 2020 and for former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Yiannopoulos had publicly championed aggressive deportation policies and ICE raids, and far-right commentator Laura Loomer, a Trump ally who has feuded with him, took credit for his arrest.
