The harvest moon pairs up with Saturn for a 2-for-1 celestial display - KSL.com

The harvest moon, the first full moon of fall, will reach peak illumination at 10:49 a.m. MDT on Saturday, though the best viewing comes just after sunset that evening, according to EarthSky.
Saturn will appear golden near the full moon from Friday through Monday, giving sky-gazers a two-for-one celestial display over the weekend.
The ringed planet reaches opposition on Oct. 4, when it sits directly opposite the sun from Earth and appears at its largest and brightest, marking the optimal time to observe it.
Neptune will also lie near the moon, but the faint gas giant requires binoculars or a telescope and clear, dark skies to be seen, per NASA.
September's full moon is traditionally called the corn moon, tied to crop harvesting; Indigenous groups have their own names, such as the Abenaki "corn maker moon" and the Assiniboine "yellow leaf moon." It is popularly known as the harvest moon this year because it falls close to the autumnal equinox, which occurred Tuesday.
Its characteristic orange glow occurs when viewed near the horizon through a thicker layer of Earth's atmosphere; the remaining full moons include the Oct. 26 hunter's moon, the Nov. 24 beaver moon, and the Dec. 23 cold moon, with November and December bringing supermoons.
