Xbox Elite 3 prototype pad leaks with tiny built-in screen - The Verge

Photos of an apparent Xbox Elite Series 3 prototype controller have leaked via Reddit user ssuberlex, who claims to have purchased the pad for $200 on OfferUp, as reported by The Verge on August 11, 2026.
The standout new feature is a small built-in screen, previously unrevealed, which appears to display the XCloud rocket ship icon beside an Xbox Series X and can also show a URL linking to a restricted Microsoft cloud resource.
The screen aligns closely with a leaked mode-switch diagram from a May Anatel (Brazilian regulator) filing, which showed a "Pair Button" positioned to the left of the display.
Earlier May leaks indicated the Elite 3 would include two new scroll wheels on the bottom edge, a second wireless mode connecting directly to Xbox Cloud Gaming servers, and a pair button to switch between servers and console.
Additional photos reveal the controller's scroll wheels, four rear paddles, battery compartment, carrying case, and a redesigned detachable D-pad differing from the May leak, with triggers described as clicky in the hair-trigger position.
The prototype reportedly does not function—it won't pair wirelessly or via cable, showing only a blinking red light—raising the question of whether Microsoft may officially unveil the controller at Gamescom.
