Tom Tiffany's plane forced to make emergency water landing after campaign event - wisn.com

Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany was aboard a four-seat Bonanza plane that made an emergency water landing in Lake Wausau on Saturday night after the aircraft lost power while approaching Wausau Downtown Airport.
Tiffany said he and others called 911, then exited the aircraft and swam to a shallow area as the plane began to submerge, waiting for emergency responders to reach them by boat.
The Marathon County Sheriff's Office reported the initial 911 call came in at 8:49 p.m. and identified the pilot as 73-year-old Leonard Boltz of Pearson.
Tiffany, who was returning home from the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner, received stitches above his right eye at Aspirus Wausau Hospital overnight and was released, as was the pilot.
Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley responded by expressing gratitude that no one was seriously hurt, crediting the pilot's heroism and wishing Tiffany a quick recovery.
