Trump Fumes At CNN Reporter Who Asked About North Korean Leader - Deadline

During a Monday Oval Office appearance, President Trump clashed with CNN senior White House correspondent Kristen Holmes as she tried to ask about his communications with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Trump had been defending his relationship with Kim, saying "I understand him," after posting on Truth Social on Sunday that he was ordering the military to scale back joint exercises with South Korea.
When Holmes pressed with a follow-up, Trump told her to be "quiet," accused her of being "disrespectful," and repeatedly labeled her and CNN "fake news," calling her a "loud, boisterous person" and a "fake reporter."
The exchange took place in front of Nathaniel Rai, a 10-year-old rescued from rough surf in Santa Cruz by lifeguard Ryder Williams, both of whom were being honored in the Oval Office; Trump gestured toward the boy and asked if he found Holmes disrespectful.
Earlier, Holmes had asked Trump to respond to Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), who said the president would rather travel with aide Natalie Harp and build the White House ballroom than do his job; Trump called Ossoff a "Pee Wee Herman lookalike."
The White House's rapid response account attacked Holmes as an "embarrassment," while CNN defended her as "one of the most respected and accomplished journalists covering the White House" and condemned personal attacks on reporters as inconsistent with a free press.
