Tony Romo arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating under the influence - WISN

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while under the influence, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.
WISN 12 News obtained the arrest-detention report, which states Romo was stopped around 5:30 p.m. while traveling southbound on Interstate 43 just south of the Marquette Interchange and "performed poorly" on standard field sobriety tests before being taken into custody and released.
The report described Romo's demeanor during the arrest as "cooperative," and it did not indicate any blood alcohol or breathalyzer testing was conducted.
In Wisconsin, a first-offense OWI is generally a civil offense rather than a criminal charge, typically carrying a fine of $150 to $300. Romo was given a court date of Sept. 21, though his appearance is not mandatory.
Romo grew up in Burlington, graduated from Burlington High School, and became the first student-athlete there named all-state in three sports: football, basketball, and golf.
The Burlington Area School District named its athletic field Tony Romo Field in February 2020, and Romo returned in September 2022 for its official dedication; he is a four-time Pro Bowler and part of CBS' lead NFL broadcast team.
