Trump praised Cohen for having "recanted everything" and said he had been "weaponized," while Cohen — who once vowed to "take a bullet" for Trump before calling him a "Cheeto-dusted cartoon villain" — spoke of forgiveness without amnesia.
Cohen served prison time for his role in what he described as covering up Trump's conduct, and his testimony helped secure Trump's conviction in the 2024 hush-money trial; he has since criticized the prosecutors, which helped clear the way for their détente.
In a CNN interview before the radio segment aired, Cohen said he had resubmitted a pardon application previously denied by the prior administration, had not yet received a response, and planned to follow up Friday.
