Enes Kanter Freedom, Royce White Not Eligible to Play in WNBA - Front Office Sports

Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White, both former NBA players, are not eligible to play in the WNBA, league sources told Front Office Sports.
In recent weeks, the two men declared their intention to enter the 2027 WNBA draft, claiming they identify as women; a league source dismissed the declarations as "simply publicity stunts."
The WNBA source said the league would not give "oxygen to efforts designed to mock the league" and that no legitimate or immediate eligibility matters require action.
The league's collectively bargained eligibility rules state in the new CBA (Article XIII, Section 1(a)) that "Only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA," with no language addressing gender identity or gender assigned at birth.
On Sunday, Freedom, 34, sat courtside at the Indiana Fever–Chicago Sky game in Chicago and had a verbal altercation with Sky guard Natasha Cloud in the third quarter, prompting security to restrain and remove him from the arena.
Freedom claimed he was being ejected for "supporting women," calling it "unacceptable"; Cloud did not address the media, though a Sky spokesperson said the 11-year veteran spoke to league and team security, and it remains unclear whether Freedom can return to WNBA arenas.
