ESPN reportedly lays off analyst Ryan Clark during broadcast of 'NFL Live' - Yahoo Sports

ESPN laid off NFL analyst Ryan Clark as part of a broader round of cuts, according to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand.
Clark was appearing on "NFL Live" on Monday and was reportedly informed of the layoff mid-broadcast, leaving before the show ended; the network had planned to notify him Tuesday but feared he would learn the news online first due to media inquiries.
A Pro Bowl and Super Bowl-winning safety, Clark joined ESPN as an analyst in 2015 and contributed to shows including "SportsCenter," "First Take," and "NFL Live." He was earning more than $2 million annually under a contract signed in February 2024.
ESPN and NFL Network are expected to announce additional layoffs Tuesday as part of a larger wave of cuts at parent company Disney, with Clark unlikely to be the only on-air personality affected.
Front Office Sports reported in June that the network was preparing for significant reductions tied to the ESPN-NFL Network merger, impacting both on- and off-camera staff.
Clark had reportedly been expected to feature in ESPN's Super Bowl coverage next year, when the network airs the event for the first time; he also drew attention last September for an on-air clash with Peter Schrager on "Get Up," for which he later apologized.
