Anthony Joshua overcame two first-round knockdowns to knock out Kristian Prenga in the second round at the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, improving his record to 30-4 (27 KOs).
Prenga (20-2, 20 KOs) stunned Joshua just 19 seconds into the fight with a right uppercut, then floored him again later in the round, prompting a second 10-count from the referee.
Joshua recovered during the one-minute break and opened the second round with a big right hand, a short-range left, and a clubbing shot that sent Prenga onto the ropes, where he was counted out.
The victory clears the path for a long-anticipated all-British showdown with Tyson Fury, tentatively set for later in the year, which promoter Eddie Hearn said is already "signed."
Fury had set up the potential mega-fight by finishing Mariusz Wach in Thailand the day before, on Friday.
The 36-year-old Joshua returned after seven months out following his December knockout of Jake Paul and a car accident that killed two of his close friends; Hearn suggested he may have come back "too soon," while Joshua credited a "higher power" for helping him rise from the canvas.
