LeBron James rode 'emotional roller coaster' before decision - ESPN

Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports Group, described LeBron James' free agency as an "emotional roller coaster every single day" until James decided at 1 a.m. Friday to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
James weighed four teams — Philadelphia, Cleveland, Miami and Golden State — with Paul noting the strong emotional pull of returning to the Cavaliers or the Heat and Pat Riley, as well as the appeal of playing alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
The 76ers became the frontrunner after acquiring Jaylen Brown in a July 1 trade with the Boston Celtics, giving James a lineup that also includes Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid.
James officially signed on Sunday to a two-year, $8 million deal that includes a player option and a full 15% trade kicker, according to sources cited by ESPN's Shams Charania.
James said on X that a shot at a fifth championship drove his decision, while Paul highlighted that James' close relationship with Klutch client Maxey helped ease the transition to Philadelphia.
Paul argued James is the league's best secondary playmaker and could aid Maxey and young guard VJ Edgecombe, suggesting coach Nick Nurse might borrow from Tyronn Lue's playbook by using Maxey as a screener.
