Trump hid in catering truck in secret plane swap over Iran threat, reports say - BBC

Donald Trump secretly switched planes when leaving a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, in response to a credible Iranian threat, according to US media reports including the Washington Post.
The US had detected intelligence that Iran might fire a missile at his aircraft, officials told CBS News; Trump had earlier described himself as Iran's "number one target" during the summit.
On 8 July, Trump boarded Air Force One in front of TV cameras before being transported via an elevated catering truck to a smaller C-32A military aircraft, a modified Boeing 757 typically used by the vice-president.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth boarded the C-32A separately using external stairs to make the flight appear routine, while journalists and some White House staff who boarded Air Force One were unaware Trump had left and were told to keep window shades down.
The C-32A carrying Trump used the call sign "Reach 18," while the plane carrying journalists retained the "AF1" call sign to maintain the deception.
The manoeuvre followed renewed US military strikes on Iran after negotiations between Washington and Tehran broke down; Trump had arrived in Turkey aboard a newer Boeing 747-8 donated by Qatar and later reboarded the older Air Force One en route home via the UK. The White House has not confirmed the switch.
