Mark Ruffalo Fires Back After Paramount Slammed Him as 'Antisemitic' - Variety

Actor Mark Ruffalo publicly responded on X to Paramount's characterization of him as "antisemitic," calling the accusation "appalling and fundamentally dishonest" after he criticized David and Larry Ellison over their alleged role in "powering some of the most destructive and inhuman forces in the world."
Ruffalo drew a distinction between criticizing the Israeli prime minister, military technology contracts, and the executives supplying them versus criticizing Jewish people, adding that his views stem from his political convictions and expressing "deep love and respect" for the Jewish community.
He shared a clip of Paramount board member Safra Catz describing technologies Oracle used to assist the Israeli military following the Oct. 7 attack, and likened the elder Ellison to a "classic oligarch."
Ruffalo warned against allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. to merge, describing the roughly $111 billion deal as handing one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., partly backed by foreign money whose editorial influence he says has not been fully explained.
He argued that scrutinizing the Ellisons and Oracle's business in data, surveillance technology and government contracts is "fair and necessary," citing threats to editorial freedom and potential job losses for thousands of families.
A Paramount spokesperson said the company is "troubled when antisemitic tropes are invoked in purported service of a business dispute," objecting to terms like "genocide" and "apartheid" being applied to a corporate transaction.
