The Witcher 4 Release Date Confirmed, Gamescom Songs of the Past Showcase Announced - Digital Foundry

CD Projekt Red has confirmed a 2028 release window for The Witcher 4, roughly four years after the game was first revealed, with the announcement made by joint CEO Michał Nowakowski via Twitter.
The reveal accompanied an invitation to a Witcher 3: Songs of the Past showcase set for Opening Night Live at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, with CDPR promising a significant presence in hall eight.
Gamescom opens to journalists and trade visitors from Wednesday and to the public from Thursday, with both the physical booth and livestream focused on the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion.
Songs of the Past, a new Witcher 3 expansion, was previously announced for a 2027 release, and the showcase will cover its story and content details.
The Witcher 4, centred on Ciri, now has a development team of over 500 people and is being built with a large open world, action-focused gameplay, and a story-driven experience, according to Nowakowski.
No additional Witcher 4 information is expected at the show, keeping the focus firmly on the Songs of the Past expansion for now.
