NC State pays tribute to astronaut Christina Koch with building name, ice cream flavor - WRAL

NASA astronaut and NC State alumna Christina Koch returned to her alma mater on Monday for a sold-out event titled "Around the Moon and Pack Again" on the university's Centennial Campus.
Koch became the first woman to leave low Earth orbit and the first woman to travel to and around the moon as part of the Artemis II mission, the farthest humans have ever flown.
The former Engineering Building II, where Koch said she spent much of her time as a student, was renamed Koch Hall in her honor, with new signs unveiled outside.
A limited-edition Howling Cow ice cream flavor, "Howl at the Moon," was announced during the celebration and will be available at Talley Student Union and the Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery.
Koch spent an hour answering media questions between noon and 1 p.m. at Duke Energy Hall, with WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner in attendance, and drew support from students, space enthusiasts and science fans.
On Tuesday, Koch was set to attend private, livestreamed campus events, including a student-led conversation about wellness, grit and self-trust and a presentation on higher education with NC State's chancellor.
