Jerry Sandusky speaks from Pennsylvania prison ahead of court hearing: 'I am an innocent man'

Jerry Sandusky, 82, spoke by phone from the state prison in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, ahead of a court hearing, telling 6abc's Chad Pradelli, "I am an innocent man" and insisting he was convicted by people with personal agendas.
A judge has granted a hearing, scheduled for September 8 in Centre County, to examine claims that an accuser identified in court documents as R.R. wants to recant his allegations of sexual abuse.
In an affidavit filed by Sandusky's attorneys, R.R. said he was coached extensively by authorities and told that trauma may have fragmented his memory, and that he could "safely affirm details" he did not fully recall.
Sandusky was convicted in 2012 on 45 counts of sexual abuse involving multiple boys and has been serving a decades-long sentence; he has repeatedly lost efforts to obtain a new trial and was resentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison.
Sandusky contends that financial motives drove the accusations, saying accusers were incentivized and led, and that they initially did not make allegations without such leading.
His new attorneys are expected to argue that he received ineffective counsel, while Sandusky says the hearing at least leaves the door open to a new trial, adding that he wants to go home and have his grandchildren know the truth.
