Israeli attacks on Gaza kill 14, including mourners attending funeral - Al Jazeera

At least 14 Palestinians were killed in multiple Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, with more than half dying in a drone strike on a funeral procession, according to reporting published July 17, 2026.
Eight people were killed and at least 20 injured when a strike hit civilians in the Al-Balata market area of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, per the territory's civil defence agency and Al-Awda Hospital.
Witnesses said the drone targeted mourners gathered outside the Ahmad Yassin Mosque as they prepared to begin a funeral for a Palestinian killed earlier the same day in the same area.
The Israeli military confirmed the strike, claiming it hit a "terrorist" cell but acknowledging it was aware that "uninvolved individuals" may have been harmed, with results under review.
Hamas condemned the attack, describing it as a "heinous crime" and accusing Israel of systematically violating the ceasefire that had been in place for nine months.
Additional casualties were reported elsewhere on Friday, including a 52-year-old woman killed by a drone near Abu Tammam School in Beit Lahia, one person killed in Az-Zawayda, and another in al-Sawarha west of Nuseirat.
