Iran hits US in Jordan, US-Saudi strikes on Iraq: Is war spreading? - Al Jazeera

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired multiple ballistic missiles at US military installations in Jordan on Wednesday, an assault US Central Command (CENTCOM) described as intercepting a "surprise attack" on its forces in the Middle East.
On the same morning, the US and Saudi Arabia jointly launched strikes on Iran-backed groups in Iraq, though it remains unclear whether Iran's attack on Jordan occurred before or after these strikes.
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defence said its forces coordinated with CENTCOM to target "Iran-aligned" groups accused of attacking US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure on IRGC orders.
Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) reported at least 20 of its fighters killed and 32 wounded across seven provinces — Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala and Diyala — describing the figures as preliminary and possibly rising.
The US and Saudi Arabia justified the Iraq strikes by blaming Iran for recent drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities apparently launched from Iraqi territory, citing "30 IRGC-directed" drone attacks within 72 hours.
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi convened an emergency meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security following the attacks, amid mounting fears that the US-Israel war on Iran could widen into a broader regional conflict.
