Israel rejects Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza, stoking tensions with US - Al Jazeera

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared at a Sunday cabinet meeting that Israel "rejects the 15-point document," referring to President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza that Hamas endorsed last month.
Netanyahu said the Israeli army would not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is "genuinely disarmed," describing ongoing talks with the US in which some American ideas are acceptable and others are not.
Hamas responded via Telegram that it remains committed to fully implementing the plan, urging mediators and guarantor countries to prevent any violations that could derail the process.
The plan stems from a July 30 agreement Trump touted as "historic," calling for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups; it was credited to the US-led Board of Peace, launched in February 2026 with roughly 40 countries — including Israel and several Arab states but no Palestinian representatives — and Trump installed as chair for life.
Netanyahu insisted on "real disarmament, not fictitious disarmament," demanding the removal of all weaponry including lighter arms, while the plan initially focuses on Hamas's heavy weapons, production sites, depots and tunnel network; he also vowed no Palestinian state would arise under his leadership.
Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane, reporting from Washington, characterized Netanyahu as playing a "very dangerous game" with Trump, as Israel continued near-daily deadly attacks across Gaza despite a ceasefire reached last October.
